Alamogordo Public Schools Kinder Registration and Health Fair
May 2, 2009

Pictured: Lions BJ Sanders a new member, Patsy Avila and Jeanette Lang get ready for the Alamogordo Public Schools Kinder Registration and Health Fair. Also involved in the screening were Lions Georgia and Chuck and our youngest Lion, Heather, who was operating the iScreen for the first time.

One hundred and sixty children were screened in this 240 minute session.  This was the last of 4 side by side comparison screenings where both the iScreen and the Pedia Vision systems were used.  All referred children from these screenings will be referred to doctors who have signed letters of participation with the Breakfast Lions Operation KidSight program.  From the first screening, 12 of the 16 children referred  have or have completed appointments, the remaining 4 have not responded to attempted contact, 1 of this 4 was screened in the fall of 08 and was also referred, apparently with the same lack of response.

From the 2nd screening, 4 of the 5 referred have appointments and the 1 remaining has not responded to attempted contact.  From the APS Kinder Registration there were 19 referrals and 2 borderline.  With the first round of contact not yet completed so far 6 are completed, 3 have pending appointments and 7 are in the process of making appointments.  From Gadsden we will receive the complete results of all screened.
